Wolfson College celebrates opening of state-of-the-art Academic Wing

The Leonard Wolfson Auditorium, which forms the centrepiece of the new development, was unveiled by College President Dame Hermione Lee at a naming ceremony attended by the Vice-Chancellor Andrew Hamilton, members of the College and the University, friends and well-wishers to the College, and members of the Wolfson Foundation, the College's chief benefactors.

Summer VIIIs 2013 Highlights

We had a total of 6 boats racing this year, gaining a net total of 7 places. This year has shown that Wolves stay strong in the toughest of conditions, with wash-outs of Christ Church regatta, red flag throughout most of the winter, and the pack came out only stronger.

Fournier Trio and Creative Arts Fellow celebrate musical achievements

The Fournier Trio, ensemble-in-residence at Wolfson College since September 2011, have been awarded the prestigious Parkhouse Award 2013 which is presented biannually to chamber ensembles of piano and strings whose members have been performing together for at least two years. Previous winners have included the Fauré and Notos quartets, and the duo of violist Nils Mönkemeyer and pianist Nicholas Rimmer.

Professor Geza Vermes - Obituary

Geza Vermes was an expert in the history of Judaism in the early Roman empire whose prolific writings, particularly on the Jewish background of early Christianity and on the Dead Sea scrolls, have had a profound effect both among scholars and in the wider public.

Wolfson President Hermione Lee Meets Alumni in Tour of East Asia

The trip, which coincides with the Vice-Chancellor Andrew Hamilton's tour of the region in April, sees Professor Lee and the College's Development Director William Conner visit leading universities in the region to encourage students to study at Wolfson and to take part in graduate exchanges with the College.

On 29 March, the President and Development Director will be joined by Dr James B. Lewis, Oxford University Lecturer in Korean History, at the Seoul Garden Hotel, where an alumni reception will be held from 6pm.

Wolfson College Boat Club Torpids 2013

The Women's first VIII moved up two places to top of division 2, and just missed out on securing their place in division 1. The Women's second VIII also moved up two places, and are now top of division 4.  The Men's first VIII had a more difficult week in the top half of division 1, and put in a very strong performance each day, but unfortunately moved down two places. The Men's second VIII moved up five places across the four days, which was an excellent performance, and finally M3 were very successful moving up four places.
