Wolfson Harrison UK Research Council Physics Scholarship

The Wolfson Harrison UK Research Council Physics Scholarship for applicants who are applying for a DPhil in any branch of Physics.

Value of award

Course fees (at Home/EU rate) and a grant for living costs for full-time students of at least £15,009. Students on part-time courses will recieve a proportional study support grant instead. Previous Oxford students are advised to check their fee liability on the University's Fees and Funding pages for any applicable adjustments to fee liability resulting from prior study. 


Residence criteria

The Scholarship is open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in the UK, EEA or Switzerland.

How to apply

There is no separate application process. All applicants should apply to the University of Oxford under the standard procedures for graduate degrees for 2020-21. Applications should be made by the January deadline for your eligible course. If there are two or more candidates of equal academic merit, priority will be given to the candidate who has listed Wolfson as their first choice college on their University application form. The Scholar will become a member of Wolfson College. 


History of award

The Wolfson Harrison UK Research Council Physics Scholarship is generously funded by Dr Simon Harrison. Dr Harrison is an alumnus of Wolfson College and the Department of Physics, having completed a DPhil in Applied Physics at Oxford.  He retains a strong connection with Wolfson College and takes a keen interest in the work and progress of those students supported by his Scholarship.
