Through the generous donations of alumni, fellows, staff and students the Wolfson's first Giving Day has raised nearly £90,000

Wolfson College would like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to our Giving Day last week. Donations from more than 120 Wolfson alumni, fellows, staff and students raised an incredible £87,577 for our refugee scholars appeal and for wider student support. Over the course of two days, the row-a-thon in Stallworthy Grove saw rowers from WCBC and the wider college community cover a remarkable 301km, far surpassing the original target of 196.6km. Wolfson’s star bakers contributed more than twenty cakes, and selections of cupcakes, tray bakes, biscuits, cookies and samosas for the bake sale in the cafe, raising some £357 towards the appeal. We are very grateful to everyone who gave and took part.

Our special auction in aid of the Giving Day raised more than £4,000. With some lots still available, we have extended the bidding on unsold items to Thursday 19 May at 9pm. So there is still a chance to bid on a home-cooked Indian meal for two, a private tour of the Ashmolean money gallery or Oxford’s magnetic spectroscopy lab, or a signed copy of Tom Stoppard: A Life by Dame Hermione Lee, with all proceeds contributing to an important cause.
