In this lecture, Professor Tarje Nissen-Meyer will elaborate on how seismology has come a long way from constraining seismicity and Earth's interior. He will motivate this lecture with the developments of modern seismological inquiry, leading to our work on Earth's dark matter and extraterrestrial life. Nissen-Meyer argues that a mix of local geology, geophysics and seismology, ecology, wildlife behaviour, mammal physiology, blended by multidisciplinary data acquisition and mining with novel deep-learning techniques shall help us in further unravelling the connection between life and our pristine planet.

Professor Tarje Nissen-Meyer, University Lecturer in Geophysics, explores the nature of Earth processes by integrating observed data from natural phenomena (e.g. earthquakes) with quantitative modelling to image our planet's interior. His expertise lies in developing numerical methods for seismic wave propagation at scales ranging from sedimentary basins to the Earth's core.
