Former Research Fellow at Wolfson appointed Head of Department at Stanford University

Congratulations to Professor Ato Quayson, who has been appointed as Head of Department of English at one of America's top universities, Stanford.

He brings with him years of expertise and knowledge, taking his DPhil at the University of Cambridge after which he held a Junior Research Fellowship at Wolfson.

From 1995 to 2005, Professor Ato was Lecturer, then Reader in Commonwealth and Postcolonial Literature in the Faculty of English at the University of Cambridge. While at Cambridge, he was the Director of the Centre for African Studies and a Fellow of Pembroke College. He was also inaugural director of the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies at the University of Toronto from 2005 to 2016, before becoming Professor of African and Postcolonial Literature at New York University from 2017 to 2019. Professor Ato then joined Stanford in September 2019.

He has authored many books and featured in many publications, including six monographs and eight edited volumes.
