Wolfson alumnus and Rhodes Scholar Wes Moore makes history as he is sworn in as Maryland’s first Black governor.

Yesterday at 12.30pm EST, New York Times best-selling author, Rhodes scholar and former CEO of Robin Hood Foundation (an anti-poverty association based in NYC), Wes Moore was sworn in as Maryland’s first Black governor.

Moore has never held public office before. Yet he held a double-digit lead in the polling before winning the election against Republican nominee Dan Cox in November 2022.

Wes Moore has garnered support of national Democrats and celebrities including President Biden and former President Barack Obama. His inauguration makes him the country’s third Black governor.

While studying as a Rhodes Scholar at Wolfson, Moore earned a master's degree in international relations and recently joined us for an online interview and Q&A session in January this year, which you can view on our YouTube channel.
