Fifty years ago, George Smith, a materials scientist, was the second JRF ever to be elected at Wolfson College. On 1 October 2018, he revisited memories from Wolfson College together with Sir Tim Hitchens and Jonathan Michie, President at Kellogg College.

In 1965, Iffley College (located at 60-62 Banbury Road) was founded, and in 1968 it admitted its first graduate students and junior research fellows. It was a new community for postgraduates at Oxford and led by Sir Isaiah Berlin who transformed Iffley College into Wolfson College. Since then, the College has grown and expanded, leading up to 195 matriculation students in 2018.
