Dr Jason Nurse, Wolfson JRF and Research Officer at the Department of Computer Science, has been named as a Recognising Inspirational Scientists and Engineers ('RISE') Rising Star by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Dr Nurse leads a research team which investigates the issue of identity exposure to risk in cyberspace.

The Rising Stars are young researchers who are regarded as future leaders of internationally excellent research and are nominated by RISE Leaders, who are themselves inspirational and innovative scientists and engineers. Dr Nurse was nominated by Sadie Creese, Professor Cybersecurity at the Department of Computer Science.

Dr Nurse's research aims to improve cybersecurity for all users by identifying all types of data shared in cyberspace and the possible types of attacks users may be subjected to. Through his research he hopes ‘to help organisations to design interfaces to better protect themselves and the public'.
