Wolfson College RF Receives International Vaccine Research Award

Wolfson College Research Fellow Dr Young Chan Kim has been awarded the 2026 Early Career Researcher Award at the 20th Vaccine Congress, one of the leading international conferences in vaccinology organised by Vaccine, Elsevier’s premier journal in the field. The award recognises an exceptional early career researcher making significant contributions to vaccine science and translational vaccinology.
Dr Kim is Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Division of Structural Biology (STRUBI), Principal Investigator at the Oxford Vaccine Group, and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Paediatrics. His research focuses on translational vaccinology, spanning vaccine platform technologies, rational antigen design, experimental medicine, and the development of next-generation vaccines for emerging infectious diseases.
“Vaccinology is fundamentally collaborative, and this recognition reflects the support, insight and generosity of many colleagues, students, mentors and collaborators who have shaped my development,” comments Dr Kim. “I am deeply honoured to receive this award.“
The Vaccine Congress brings together researchers, clinicians, public health experts and industry leaders from across the world to share advances in vaccine research, technology and global health.
As part of the award, Dr Kim has been invited to deliver a 20-minute keynote lecture at the Congress, which will take place in Seville, Spain, from 14–16 September 2026.
