Desmond Morris, former Wolfson RF, dies aged 98

Wolfson was saddened to hear that Desmond Morris, renowned zoologist, broadcaster, artist and author of The Naked Ape, died on 19th April 2026, aged 98. Educated at Magdalen College, where he studied zoology, he later became a Research Fellow at Wolfson from 1973 to 1981. Morris was internationally celebrated for bringing the study of animal and human behaviour to a wide public audience through his books and television programmes, including Zoo Time and The Human Animal. He combined scientific curiosity with artistic imagination throughout a prolific career spanning more than seven decades. Wolfson remembers him with admiration and extends its condolences to his family and friends.
