Centre for Global Epilepsy shortlisted for Vice-Chancellor’s Award
Wolfson was delighted to learn that the Centre for Global Epilepsy (CGE) has been shortlisted for the 2026 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards in the category Making a Difference Globally. The Vice Chancellor’s Awards recognise outstanding contributions from across the University, celebrating individuals and teams whose work advances Oxford’s academic mission and creates meaningful impact around the world.
Based at Wolfson, the Centre for Global Epilepsy is the world’s only research centre dedicated to framing epilepsy as a global health, equity and development challenge. Launched in 2025, the Centre brings together expertise from across disciplines to address inequalities in diagnosis, treatment, education and policy for people living with epilepsy.
This nomination recognises the Centre’s work in advancing equitable epilepsy care worldwide through research, capacity building, policy engagement and international collaboration. Established with philanthropic support and building on Oxford’s longstanding leadership in global epilepsy research, CGE is a permanent interdisciplinary hub to address epilepsy and mind-brain health.
Over the past year, the Centre has developed partnerships across Africa, Asia, South America and Europe, convened the inaugural Global Mind Brain Health Summit in Oxford, supported epilepsy training initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, and launched collaborative research projects focused on maternal health and epilepsy in Nepal.
Our congratulations to CGE!
Winners of the VC Awards will be announced at a ceremony hosted by the Vice-Chancellor at the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities on 4 June 2026.
