Wolfson College is seeking an outstanding Home Bursar to lead the management and development of one of Oxford’s most distinctive college estates.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the College’s estates, grounds, accommodation, housekeeping and lodge teams. Reporting to the Bursar and working closely with the President, Fellows, staff and students, the Home Bursar plays a pivotal role in ensuring the College operates efficiently while delivering an exceptional environment for our diverse academic community.

The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with strong operational leadership. They will oversee major maintenance, refurbishment and capital projects, champion sustainability, ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, and lead high-performing teams across a busy and varied estate. This is an opportunity for an experienced leader who enjoys making a visible impact every day and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.  The role requires strong, flexible leadership based on experience and credibility, coupled with tact, diplomacy and effective communication and interpersonal skills. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the planning and delivery of estate maintenance, refurbishment and new-build projects.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of major capital projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation, including Fire Safety.
  • Driving the College’s sustainability strategy and environmental initiatives.
  • Leading, developing and inspiring the estates, grounds, housekeeping, accommodation and lodge teams.
  • Managing departmental budgets in partnership with the Bursar.
