GIVING 50 MORE STUDENTS THE CHANCE TO LIVE AT WOLFSON
Wolfson College has always been defined by its friendly and supportive atmosphere. The Garden Building represents the next step in strengthening that community, meeting the growing demand for on-site accommodation in a sustainable way.
Only around 40% of Wolfson’s students currently live on site. The rest must navigate Oxford’s competitive housing market, often paying much higher rents, living far away, and missing out on all that Wolfson has to offer.
Living in College is more than a practical convenience. It means sharing meals, accessing support, and the friendships and collaborations that define the Wolfson experience.
Our new three-story building will:
- Provide 50 high-quality student bedrooms
- Include shared kitchen and study areas
- Create new landscaped gardens and green space
- Replace the existing South Car Park
DESIGNED FOR THE FUTURE
BLENDING HERITAGE WITH LANDSCAPE
The Garden Building has been designed to complement the iconic Powell & Moya architecture of Wolfson’s original buildings, with flint façades and sympathetic lines that will fit naturally into the landscape.
SUSTAINABLE BY DESIGN
Built to Passivhaus standards, the building will be zero carbon-emitting in operation. Solar panels, air-source heat pumps and advanced insulation will give it outstanding energy efficiency.
New planting around the building will enhance biodiversity. By replacing the South Car Park, we are prioritizing people, nature, and climate over cars.
Construction began in August 2025 and the building is due to open in spring 2027 – a milestone in Wolfson’s long-term vision to enhance students’ experiences for generations to come.
SUPPORT THE PROJECT
The Garden Building is a major investment in the future of Wolfson. But we cannot accomplish it without the support of alumni and friends.
Gifts of all sizes will make a real difference in this landmark development for Wolfson. Will you help bring it to fruition?
STAY UPDATED
Throughout the build, we will share our progress on social media and via the Wolfsonian newsletter. We are also live streaming the process – watch here.
