Vincenzo Roberto Imperia obtained his PhD in “Human Rights: evolution, protection and limits” at the Department of Law of the University of Palermo, and in “Droit et sciences sociales” at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris, with a thesis entitled “The bishoprics in Norman-Swabian Sicily (XI-XIII centuries). Normative powers and jurisdictional competences in a multicultural territory”. Previously, he obtained a Master’s degree in Law at the Department of Law of the University of Palermo. He is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Palermo, as well as a member of the research group of the ERC-Advanced Grant project n° 787342 “Documenting Multiculturalism. Coexistence, law and multiculturalism in administrative and legal documents of Norman and Hohenstaufen Sicily, c.1060-c.1266”, which is conducted in collaboration between the University of Oxford and the University of Palermo. His personal research activity is focused on the historical-legal aspects concerning the Sicilian Church in the medieval period. The research is based on a comprehensive and systematic revision of the documentary sources.
