Biography
Valentina was appointed in 2023 as a Senior Researcher in Gender and Mobility. She directs the transmedia project Invisible Commutes which includes the documentary film “Invisible” on domestic workers’ commuting experience in Latin American cities. She previously worked as an Assistant professor of Law at Universidad de los Andes (2021-2023) where she directed the Law and Gender research group and the Socio-Legal gallery. Valentina was also a consultant for the Transport Gender Lab at the Inter-American Development Bank (2019-2021). Her work draws on a range of qualitative and quantitative methods and currently focuses on Latin America and Africa. Valentina’s doctoral research at Harvard University (2020) focused on domestic workers’ commuting experiences in Bogota and Medellin, Colombia. She was recently granted the John Fell Fund to conduct research on women cross-border commutes in South America and Africa. Valentina’s work has also been funded by the Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship by the World Resources Institute, the John F Meyer Transportation fund from Harvard Kennedy School, and the Harvard-Los Andes fund.
