Tarje Nissen-Meyer

Professor of Geophysics

Professor Tarje Nissen-Meyer explores the nature of Earth processes by integrating observed data from natural phenomena (e.g. earthquakes) with quantitative modeling to image our planet's interior, much like medical tomography. His expertise lies in developing numerical methods for seismic wave propagation at scales ranging from sedimentary basins to the Earth's core.

This research touches upon aspects of geophysics, applied mathematics, continuum mechanics, optics, signal processing, medical imaging, optimisation theory, civil engineering, high-performance computing, complexity theory, as well as exploration, re-insurance, and hardware industries, and Nissen-Meyer is receptive to such trans-disciplinary collaborations.
