Rachel Wood

Governing Body Fellow

Dr Rachel Wood is broadly interested in the art and archaeology of pre-Islamic Iran. Her current topic area is art and religion of the Sasanian empire, as part of the British Museum's Leverhulme project 'Empires of Faith'. This project explores the development of religious iconographies during Late Antiquity (roughly AD 200-800) across Eurasia. In her previous life as a Classical Archaeologist, she worked on art and cultural interactions in the Hellenistic East (c.331-c.125 BC) for my DPhil, which she is currently preparing as a monograph, and she continues to work on questions based on Hellenistic, Parthian, Elymaean, and Sasanian art.
