Biography
Dr Can Eken is an Assistant Professor at Durham Law School and co-director of the Durham International Dispute Resolution Institute. Dr Eken is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, an attorney in California, and a lawyer in Türkiye, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is an Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator in the United Kingdom, and also acts as legal consultant and arbitrator. In addition to the University of Oxford, he has held visiting positions at leading international institutions, including Stanford University, the Max Planck Institute, Singapore Management University, and the University of Sydney Law School. His research focuses on international arbitration, mediation, investment law, third-party funding, and online dispute resolution, and he has published widely in these fields. Dr Eken holds a PhD in Law from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, an LLM from LSE, and an LLB and LLM from Dokuz Eylul University.
