Ben Sheldon

Luc Hoffman Professor in Field Ornithology

Professor Ben Sheldon is broadly interested in evolutionary biology, ecology and behavioural ecology. Much of his work aims to understand the ecological and evolutionary causes of variation in natural populations, and the consequences of that variation for larger-scale processes such as population structure and population dynamics.

Sheldon uses wild birds as the model system for these studies, and particularly work with long-term studies of populations, including tits in Wytham Woods, near Oxford.
