Andrew Neil

Professor of Clinical Epidemiology

Professor Andrew Neil is a former Senior Tutor of Wolfson College.

Neil's research has focused on the determinants of coronary heart disease and its prevention, mainly in relation to diabetes, dyslipidaemias and nutrition.  This has involved conducting a programme of translational research consisting both of large-scale epidemiological studies and randomised controlled trials, some of which have had important implications for evidence-based practice such as the routine use of cholesterol-lowering drug treatment with statins in type 2 diabetes. Neil continues to be involved in research into inherited disorders of lipoprotein metabolism, in particular, familial hypercholesterolaemia.
