Wolfson elects Dr Yosef Wosk as an Honorary Fellow

Wolfson is pleased to announce the election of Dr Yosef Wosk to an Honorary Fellowship. Yosef Wosk is an Adjunct Professor in Humanities, a Simons Fellow and former Director of Interdisciplinary Programs in Continuing Studies at Simon Fraser University.

We are grateful for his support for so many projects at Wolfson, ranging from the gardens to the kitchens, and including the Jon Stallworthy Poetry Prize and our Tibetan & Himalayan Studies Centre. Dr Wosk is a former visiting scholar at the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing, based at Wolfson College, and at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies. In his honour, Wolfson College established the Yosef Wosk Visiting Scholars Programme, which allows visiting senior scholars to undertake their own research and writing while benefitting from the intellectual support of OCLW and Wolfson College.
In addition to being an ordained rabbi and receiving two honorary doctorates, Dr Wosk holds PhDs in Religion & Literature as well as in Psychology, and Master’s degrees in Education and in Theology. He founded almost a thousand libraries on all seven continents, supported museums in numerous countries, has planted close to a million trees, endowed Vancouver’s Poet Laureate and has taught thousands of students over the past fifty years. Identified as one of the top ten thinkers and most thoughtful citizens in British Columbia, he is included in Canadian Who’s Who and has been presented with numerous awards including the Order of Canada, the Order of British Columbia, Freedom of the City of Vancouver, the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals and a Culture Beyond Borders Medal from the United Nations.
