Wolfson Alum wins British Council Award for Social Action

We are delighted to share that Wolfson alum Dr Abdulrahman Al Lily (2008-12) was awarded the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Award for Social Action, honouring his innovative and pioneering work in science, technology and entrepreneurship within the Saudi higher education system. The award was presented at an award ceremony on 27 January in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr Al Lily is Vice President for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Research, and Graduate Studies at King Faisal University. His achievements at the university to date include leading it to first place in US patents, securing its recognition as an Innovation District, achieving top national ranking in empowering entrepreneurship, establishing a Science Park and achieving 170% growth in startups with a market value of USD 50 million.

Speaking on a video message congratulating Dr Al Lily at the ceremony, Wolfson Development Director Dr Huw David said, “Dr Al Lily’s work embodies our university’s mission of nurturing bold, creative and visionary leaders. His drive and commitment are inspiring, and we’re proud to see him making such an impact in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and within the international education ecosystem.”

The Study UK Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of international UK university alumni who have used their experience of studying at a UK university to make a positive contribution to their communities, professions, and countries.

Dr Abdulrahman Al Lily completed his PhD in Education, Technology, Society and Organisational Politics at Wolfson.
