Wolfson College Celebrates Success at 2025 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards

Vice Chancellor's Awards 2025

Wolfson is delighted to announce the success of several members of the College at the 2025 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards, which celebrate excellence in research, teaching, and academic culture across the University of Oxford. The College is proud to have a community that’s leading the way in medical humanities, inclusive research, and innovative teaching.

Dr Sally Frampton Wins for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Wolfson Research Fellow Dr Sally Frampton received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching and Learning for her work on Diversity in Death and Dying.

The project, a collaboration between the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Faculty of History, Ashmolean Museum, and Faculty of Theology & Religion, offers medical students the chance to engage with historical artefacts and artworks to explore cultural perspectives on death. The initiative encourages students to reflect on the emotional and ethical challenges of end-of-life care.

Medical Humanities Research Hub Wins Research Culture Award

In the Research Culture category, the Oxford Centre for the Humanities (TORCH)’s Medical Humanities Research Hub (MedHum), led by Wolfson Governing Body Fellow Professor Erica Charters, won for its outstanding work in promoting interdisciplinary scholarship.

The winning team includes Wolfson Junior Research Fellow Dr Hohee Cho, Research Fellow Dr Sally Frampton (above) and CR member Alberto Giubilini. The MedHum Hub supports research at the intersection of humanities, health, and medicine. It highlights the contribution of the humanities to a proper understanding of health, disease, and medicine. MedHum challenges the assumption that cutting-edge medical research and innovation in healthcare are solely the domain of physicians and laboratories.

Dr Becky Im Highly Commended in Breakthrough Researcher Category

Wolfson JRF Dr Pek Kei (Becky) Im was highly commended in the Breakthrough Researcher category for her impactful research into the effects of alcohol consumption. She is committed to engaging the public and policy makers to improve public health.

These accolades reflect Wolfson College Oxford’s exceptional academic environment and its leadership in collaborative, interdisciplinary scholarship. We extend our congratulations to all our award-winning and commended members for their inspiring work.
