Congratulations to New Professors
We are proud to announce that two of our Governing Body Fellows, Arjune Sen and Annina Schmid, have been awarded the title of Professor in the University of Oxford’s Recognition of Distinction exercise for 2023.
Every year, the University of Oxford conducts a review exercise to identify researchers who have made especially significant contributions to leadership, teaching and research within the University, their affiliated departments and colleges. Two fellows of Wolfson College, both in medical sciences, have this year received the title of Professor in recognition of their work.
Arjune Sen, a consultant neurologist and NIHR BRC Senior Research Fellow in Epileptology, has been appointed as Professor of Global Epilepsy. He also serves as the Head of the Oxford Epilepsy Research Group. Professor Sen’s work seeks to develop treatments to ameliorate the seizures and co-morbidities that are commonly associated with epilepsy.
Annina Schmid, the head of Oxford’s Neuromusculoskeletal Health and Science Lab, BRC Senior Research Fellow and Wellcome Clinical Career Development Fellow, has been awarded the title of Professor of Pain Neurosciences. Her work concentrates on neuropathic pain arising from nerve compression and aims to develop precision physiotherapy and better management for patients suffering from these injuries.
We congratulate Professor Sen and Professor Schmid on their well-earned achievements and look forward to their continued contributions to their fields and to the college’s vibrant intellectual community.
