Breaking ground for the new Garden Building

Today, Fellows, staff and our architecture and contracting partners gathered in the South Car Park to mark the ‘groundbreaking’ for the Garden Building, construction works for which will commence on Monday, 11th August.

Sir Tim Hitchens marked the occasion by reiterating the College’s long-term goal to provide more on-site accommodation for our students and support the evolving needs of our College community.

The new building will be located on the land currently occupied by the South Car Park. As part of our broader decarbonisation strategy, we are reducing parking for fossil fuel vehicles, and this project provides an opportunity to make better use of the space. Over the next two years, we will create a three-storey building that is both aesthetically consistent with the existing College and built to the highest Passivhaus decarbonised standards.

Keep an eye on our social channels for regular updates on the build.
