Bettina Lange Appointed Professor of Law and Regulation

Bettina Lange

Wolfson College is delighted to announce Governing Body Fellow, Bettina Lange, has been appointed Professor of Law and Regulation by the University of Oxford.

Professor Lange’s research investigates how nature and society become linked through environmental law ‘in action’. This involves empirical analysis of the potential for and limits to state law as a mode of regulation.

“This is great news,” Professor Lange said of the appointment.

Her recent Leverhulme Trust-funded project, co-led with Dr. Julius Schneider, explores the evolution of crisis governance in the context of flooding and pandemics.

In 2023, she was recognised with a Teaching Excellence Award by Oxford’s Social Sciences Divisional Board for her outstanding supervision of graduate students.

You can find out more about her research on the Law Faculty and Centre for Socio-Legal Studies website:
