Framework for Learning and Development
The Nursery staff aim to support the children in all areas of learning and development, which in turn offers an exciting, creative and educational experience, encouraging them to explore and develop through these experiences in a safe environment that promote their welfare. They aim to encourage and ignite the child’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and build their capacity to learn and to form relationships.
The Nursery offers the children a wide range of activities, which include programmed and informal play in a ‘soft play’ area enclosed with an all-weather roof providing a safe and dry environment.
0-2.5yrs (Acorns)
The daily routine is programmed around the Early Years Foundation Stage, which includes tactile play, story telling, music, singing, dancing, heuristic and sensory play.
2.5-5yrs (Oaks)
Two daily pre-school sessions are designed to give a balanced curriculum working towards the Early Years Foundation Stage. The activities include creativity, reading, a quiet area, construction play, sand and water. There is also a ‘Home/Themed’ area which becomes whatever the child wants it to be! Story group and singing are regular daily features. Music and movement and physical activity are also incorporated into the programme.
Cooking is a popular feature with children of both groups making biscuits, scones, etc.
Outdoor activities are encouraged daily as we have such beautiful and natural surroundings. These range from walking in the College grounds, activities on the sports field and the College tennis courts, to growing flowers and vegetables in the Nursery garden.
