Narrative CVs are rapidly becoming embedded across disciplines for the higher education and research funding landscape. Used both as a reflective career development tool and as a required format for major funders, they invite a broader and more strategic articulation of your contributions. However, generating them from the standard CV, and the best ways to prepare and report your career development milestones can be challenging.
This session will involve: peer to peer discussion of your respective CVs (15mins); an interactive talk from Dr Susan Black from Oxford University Career Services on how to generate a narrative CV (45 mins); generation of groups own narrative CV and group discussion (45mins). The overall aim is to leave with an initial draft and plans for developing your own narrative CV.
This session will give a structured framework for thinking about your future professional development. It will explore how to evidence your impact on your research area and work with your wider discipline and community, as well as targeting at non-academic audiences.
This session will be open to all members of Wolfson, but as places are limited to maximise the small group work priority will be given to those research fellows (JRF or RF) preparing for grant or job applications. This will be a practical and interactive session and you need to bring is a copy of your CV (aim for 2 pages).
