How does space shape us — and how do we shape space in return? Join this talk where Aurelian Koch will share his experiences and discuss skills for presentations such as body language; the way you stand and how you hold your hands. Aurelian Koch underwent training at the Lecoq Theatre School and at the LEM (Laboratory for the Study of Movement) in Paris to find out more. For him, his training sparked a lasting curiosity about how we perceive space, how we respond to it, and how it can unlock creativity and self-confidence. He states that ‘for me movement — in its most fundamental form — is not just a technique, but a way of thinking, a way of sensing and understanding the world through weight, balance, rhythm and awareness. I work with space in many forms: the concrete realities of architecture, gravity and materials, as well as more abstract, poetic spaces — the spaces of colours, emotions, sound and light. I approach space not as a backdrop, but as a living presence that holds structure and openness in equal measure, shaping how we move, feel and relate. Through performance, play and embodied enquiry, I explore moments where movement reveals meaning, and where the relationship between body and environment becomes a shared field of curiosity, resonance and discovery.’
