We would like to invite all College Members to our second seminar in our series “Is the World getting too much”. At our previous session in March, we came together to explore how the shifting global political landscape impacts our personal lives and sense of purpose. We are now inviting you to join us for the second iteration of these discussions, continuing our exploration of how we can find meaning and connection in an increasingly challenging world.
This time, we will focus on the theme of “Meaningful solidarity – What does it mean? What are the challenges? What practices can we share on building and expanding solidarity in times of crisis to support and strengthen each other?”
The challenges we face today—from political upheaval to social division—often feel overwhelming. But how do we build meaningful connections with one another that go beyond surface-level solidarity? How do we create support networks that truly strengthen us during times of crisis? What does solidarity look like in action, and how can we expand it to reach more people who might need it? These are big questions, and we know there are no easy answers. But together, we can share our experiences, learn from one another, and explore practical ways to foster solidarity in our college community and beyond.
The discussion will once again take place in the Florey Room, from 5:00 to 6:30pm on Monday 9th June. As before, we aim to create a warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental space where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. We’ll agree on some ground rules together to ensure the discussion is productive and respectful for all.
As the Florey Room is a small space, accommodating only about 20 people we would ask all members wanting to join to kindly message Estelle or Tim to announce their interest. If attendance exceeds capacity, we’ll explore options for a larger venue for future sessions.
