Diffusion MRI lets us look into the living brain by tracing the tiny “random walks” of water molecules as they move through tissue. These measurements contain clues about the brain’s hidden wiring and microstructure, but the signals are indirect, noisy, and often hard to interpret.

My research focuses on developing new mathematical models and computational tools to sharpen these blurry measurements, and extricating useful information from background noise. The goal is to provide clearer insights into how the brain is organised, how it changes in disease, and how we might one day detect problems much earlier and more reliably than current methods allow.
