The Wolfson Astroclub invites you to our next session on Solar System exploration! See abstract below.

We will observe the sky with our telescopes after the talk if the weather allows.

Have you ever wondered why we need scientific instruments outside Earth, as if those we have here were not enough? What kind of information do they provide, and how do we actually make them? In this talk, I’ll introduce you to the fascinating world of astronomical space instrumentation. Drawing on my experience contributing to the payloads of different space mission concepts, and particularly the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE), the latest large-class mission from the European Space Agency (ESA) to the Jovian system, which was sent in 2023.
