From the collection of Robert Wilson, Theatres of Time: Glory, Decay, and Imagination in Piranesi’s Rome considers Giovanni Battista Piranesi’s fantastical etchings of the Eternal City through the lens of his Venetian heritage. Showcasing architectural visions ranging from crumbling ruins to chimeric structures, this exhibition reveals how Piranesi’s multifaceted training—as printmaker, architect, designer, polemicist, and archaeologist—enabled him to fuse Venetian invention with Roman grandeur, producing spectacular images that shape visions of modernity to this day.

Curator and Wolfson student Eunice Yu will lead two tours of the exhibition:

  • Wednesday 19 November, 4.30 PM
  • Wednesday 26 November, 4.30 PM

The exhibition will run until 29 November 2025 at 6pm. Click here for further information.
