Romulus: The College Magazine
Romulus is the magazine of Wolfson College, Oxford.
It strives in print to represent the voice of Wolfson, to express the diversity of our lives as individuals and to capture the buzz of the community we share. It is edited and produced by students at Wolfson and contains articles, fiction, poetry, drawings and photography from all members of college.
Please send any comments or suggestions to the current Editor, Martin Lohrer.
Romulus is inviting all who are associated with the college to an essay competition on Wolfson Futures: Imagining the College-To-Be. In the run-up to the main anniversary celebrations, we seek for the most original and excellent visions – both utopian and dystopian – of what the college might look like in 50, 100 or 200 years. Essays should consist of up to 3000 words. The best essays will be published in this year’s issue, and the winner will receive a prize of £200; for the second- and third-best £100 and £50 respectively. Competition submissions to email@example.com until 25 May. The deadline for other submissions has also been extended to 25 May.
50th Anniversary Issue
Romulus, Wolfson College’s student-run annual magazine, is seeking submissions for this year’s issue. The College is celebrating its 50-year-anniversary, and writers are encouraged to explore the College’s history and relation to the outside world in the past, the present moment or the future. We are interested in anything from the College’s glorious diversity – akin to that of a “ship of fools”, — its attempts at egalitarianism, the Mediterranean resort-style architecture or the College’s lesser-known Jewish history.
Whether you’d like to celebrate or contemplate, satirise or avoid navel-gazing by looking into the future for utopian visions – we would be glad to consider your submission. Contributions do not have to align themselves with the occasion of the College's semicentenary anniversary, nor are they required to conform to Cartesian ideals of clarity, precision and distinctness of ideas.
Romulus accepts submissions in text – of genres academic, literary and beyond — as well as other visual media. The magazine strives to represent the voice of Wolfson College, to express the diversity of our lives as individuals and to capture the buzz of the community we share. It is edited and produced by students at Wolfson. Submissions to the Romulus Editorial Board by 25 May 2016.
