Alessandro Maria Bruni is Associate Professor of Slavic Studies at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in Italy, where he teaches Russian and Old Church Slavonic. He completed his PhD in Slavic Philology at the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow (2004). He was a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship (2006-2008) and of the Membership of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (2012-2013). In 2021 he received a Visiting Scholar appointment at the Oxford Center for Hebrew and Jewish Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies, Oxford University). He has authored more than 70 scholarly publications in the field of Slavic Philology, Textual Criticism, Biblical Studies, Caucasology (Georgian language), Diachronic linguistics, Paleography and Codicology. He is currently working on the Old Church Slavonic version of the Book of Daniel and its significance for the textual criticism of the Bible.
