Dr Kyojiro Ikeda studied biological sciences at the Università di Roma 1, “Sapienza” in Rome. He was trained as HIV immunologist in the lab of Dr Sandra Gessani in Italy at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Later, he continued working on neglected tropical disease pathogens in Vienna, at the Max F Perutz Laboratories, Vienna Bio Centre. There, Ikeda was trained in cell biology in the lab of Prof. Graham Warren, FRS and investigated African trypanosomes during my PhD. Currently, he is a postdoctoral research associate in the lab of Pro. Matthew Freeman, FRS, at the Sir Dunn School of Pathology. In 2015, the European Commission awarded Ikeda the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship. He has been a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College since 2017.
