David Gellner is Professor of Social Anthropology and a Fellow of All Souls. He is currently Head of the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, a position he also occupied from 2009-2012. His teaching and research interests include the Anthropology of South Asia, East Asia, Buddhism, Hinduism, ritual, politics, ethnicity, borderlands, and activism.
Gellner has been the recipient of a number of awards from the ESRC and has published extensively. Most recently Gellner was co-editor of 'Religion, Secularism, and Ethnicity in Contemporary Nepal' (OUP, 2016).
