Dr. David Alonso studied physics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he obtained a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 2013. Afterwards he moved to Oxford, where he is currently a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Beecroft Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology. Alonso's main research interests are cosmology and astrophysics, with a particular emphasis on the computational challenges that modern research in this areas entails.

Alonso is involved in the development of computational tools and algorithms for the analysis of the future data coming from two experiments: the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), in which Oxford University is heavily engaged.
