Andreia Albuquerque Wendt
Andreia studied (BSc) Applied Chemistry (Biotechnology) and later Biochemistry in the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologias da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). She obtained her MSc in Biomedical Sciences (Molecular Biology and International Tropical Medicine) at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, specializing in the field of Leishmania parasites. She graduated (PhD) from the Medical School of Hannover (Medizinische Hochschule Hannover) where she studied different aspects of Toxoplasma gondii glycobiology.
Her current scientific interests lie in Apicomplexa glycobiology (in particular Plasmodium sp. and Toxoplasma gondii) and Leishmania host-pathogen interactions, virulence and resistance mechanisms.
