Johan, who is studying for a DPhil on Theoretical Physics and was assisted in creating some of the connections by Wolfson's ICT Manager, Stephen Gower, started his project a few months ago with the goal of addressing two issues: stock control and the tracking of sale frequency.

As a result of his improvements, keg levels are monitored automatically, ensuring that more accurate waste, sales, and profit margins details are recorded. Time traditionally spent carrying out tasks such as these can now be spent on keeping prices low and adding to what Johan believes is "the best selection of world beers in Oxford".

These improvements are just some of the many recent and upcoming developments in the bar. Last year's profits from the bar were reinvested during the refurbishment (half-funded by the Common Room), allowing for the purchase of an upgraded sound system, which allows variation of sound throughout different areas of the bar. The bar is open to all members of College, whether you be a student, fellow, common room member, or permanent staff member.
