Next year we expect to support 34 partial or full scholarships, including at least 17 partnered scholarships for entry to new graduate courses leading to a doctorate. This is the first step on our goal to offer 50 scholarships to students in our 50th anniversary year in 2016.

Our scholarship provision has been substantially strengthened this year by the substantial legacy from one of the College's most eminent Emeritus Fellows, Dr Francis Marriott, who sadly died in May this year. This donation, matched on a 60:40 basis under the new Oxford Graduate Scholarship Matched Fund Scheme, has enabled us to create eight fully-funded Oxford Wolfson Marriott Scholarships, in subjects ranging from Korean Studies to Healthcare Innovation, which will be awarded annually. These scholarships, which are offered in partnership with a number of departments, faculties and centres for doctoral training, will be awarded to outstanding applicants on the basis of academic merit and potential.

Increasing the provision of scholarships for new students and consequently expanding our participation in the Matched Fund Scheme remains a priority for our Development Office. Through developments such as these, we aim to become the first choice of college for talented graduate students from Britain and across the world.

Professor Andrew Neil, outgoing Senior Tutor, says: “We are delighted to be offering these additional scholarships and intend to further expand our scholarship programme in subsequent years”.
