Join us in supporting former Amref student representative Ryan Walker as he trains for the 2023 London Marathon.

Wolfson Alumnus Ryan Walker is currently training to run the 2023 London Marathon in support of the College’s chosen charity, Amref Health Africa UK.

Ryan has been a student representative for Wolfson’s Amref Group for the past four years, during which he has led and supported regular fundraising events (including the Amref Pub Quiz), has represented the College at multiple Amref UK events and has continually contributed to the thriving Wolfson-Amref relationship.

On his motivations to run the marathon, Ryan has described the following;

‘Amref has been Wolfson's chosen charity for over 40 years, and the college and the Amref UK team maintain a thriving relationship. Previously, my support for Amref has primarily involved the organisation of fundraising and promotional events, agreeing funding allocations and coordinating donations, and acting as a liaison point for the Amref UK team. Nevertheless, I've held a growing desire to expand the manner in which I support Amref and raise awareness of the fantastic work that they do.’

‘I'm running the marathon to challenge myself; physically yes, mentally, yes, but also to challenge my capacity to offer as much support as I can to a worthy cause very close to my heart - delivering equitable healthcare access to girls, women and entire communities across sub-Saharan Africa.’

Any donations in support of Ryan and Amref are warmly appreciated and can be made here
