Congratulations to Dr Katherine Collins, whose poetry pamphlet "For the apocalypse team a pastel playsuit with coordinating clutch" was shortlisted in The Rialto Open Pamphlet Competition 2020.

Dr Katherine Collins is a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson. She is a Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing.

The first prize for The Rialto Open Pamphlet Competition is a publication of the winning pamphlet. Poets on the shortlist of 10 will each get a paragraph of feedback from the judge. This year's judge was Will Harris, a skillful young poet whose work has been shortlisted for the Forward Single Poem Prize and his debut pamphlet was joint winner of the LRB Pamphlet of the Year. He gave the following feedback to Collins:

"Brilliant control of lines and line breaks, and of voice – at once brittle and elastic, funny and grieving, full of “singed sweetness”. The poet has a real flair for titles (‘For domestic consumption and later revelation by history’, or ‘A butterfly of the poet as a self-portrait’) and there’s an impressive openness to the range of references. On occasion, as in ‘The horizon leans forward’, the language is startlingly spare and affecting." (source)
