The workshop, which is open to the public, will focus on British Hindi diaspora writing in general and the writings in particular of Tejinder Sharma, honoured with an MBE for his services to Hindi language and community cohesion in London.

Sir Tim Hitchens, President of Wolfson College, says: “I'm absolutely delighted that Wolfson College can welcome the first Seminar on Hindi, in Hindi at Oxford. This is only fitting, giving the unique relationship between Oxford and India, and Oxford's reputation as a global leader. Academics from India and the UK will be sharing their research on diaspora writing, and we look forward to building the College's partnership with South Asia. Wolfson has long been proud of its expertise in the languages of South Asia, and we are delighted to be supporting the living bridge which connects the people of India and the United Kingdom.”

Hindi is one of the largest languages in the world, in terms of speaker numbers, and this workshop reflects Wolfson's commitment to building its existing expertise in South Asian languages and contributing to global linguistic diversity.
