Around the world, academics face persecution, violence and conflict. To help those who are being forced to flee their own countries, Wolfson College has teamed up with Cara. Together, we are looking to raise £15,000 and are happy to reveal that we have raised over half our target.

Stephen Wordsworth, Executive Director of Cara, said that they are excited about Wolfson's campaign to raise funds to support a Cara Fellow at the College. “We have seen a very welcome increase recently in the number of Cara Fellows being supported at Oxford, but conflicts and worsening persecution across the world have led to a sharp increase in the overall numbers of academics urgently needing to get away to work in safety until they can go home again, so this help is really needed.”

Wordsworth also commented that “An Oxford College environment offers the ideal new home for outstanding academics with their families, who have been through very tough times but who have a great deal to contribute once they are settled. This Wolfson Campaign is the first of its kind at Oxford We hope it's a great success!”

We want to thank everyone for their support so far, and hope that you can join us for an informal evening of drinks, canapes, and speeches from Tim Hitchens, Stephen Wordsworth, and other special guests this Wednesday.
