Part of the Vera Fine-Grodzinski Programme for Writing Jewish Women’s Lives.
In the aftermath of 7 October 2023, dancer, activist, and writer, Dr Dana Mills wrote near-daily essays, reporting her fears, thoughts, and—occasionally—hopes. These diaries were published in March 2024 as One Woman’s War. This work builds upon her longstanding analyses of Jewish women’s critiques of militarism and imperialism, notably in her biography of the Jewish-Polish revolutionary, Rosa Luxemburg.
Drawing upon this recent autobiographical and biographical work, Dr. Dana Mills will discuss Jewish life-writing in, about, and against war, colonialism, and imperialism in this seminar. Mills will also introduce her forthcoming projects, including a Hebrew edition of her Luxemburg biography and a new book focused on radical Jewish women’s critiques of the nation-state.
