The speaker Nicholas Márquez-Grant will present his research on ancient human remains, and how research on them produces compelling evidence for living conditions in the past,, as well as for attitudes towards death and burial. This talk will provide a general introduction to the different sources of information that can be retrieved from human skeletal remains, eventually to focus on human remains from the Punic period in Ibiza (Spain). Here analysis of human remains has revealed aspects of mortality, individual physical attributes, health and disease, diet, and violence in this society.

The talk will be preceded by a lunch reserved in Hall for Ancient World Research Cluster members from 12.30 to 13.15.
