Easter Break Closure

The College is closed from Thursday 29 March to Tuesday 3 April 2018. Please see below for specific college and university facilities opening hours and contact information for the break.

The Lodge

If you have an enquiry over the holidays, please contact the Lodge. Open: Mon–Sun 8:00–23:00. Our Night Porter is available during the evenings. 


The Minibus

The bus will not be running over the easter break. Please note that on Tuesday 3 April and Wednesday 4 April the minibus will finish early, the last bus leaving Wolfson at 15:30 and Broad Street at 15:42.


Food in Hall

Last meal served in the Hall before the break will be lunch on the Wednesday 28 March. Food will be served next on Tuesday 3 April 2018.


The Library

You will be able to access the library with your University Card over the break.


Academic Office

Last office day is Wednesday 28 March, 17:00. Open again: Tuesday 3 April 2018.


Accommodation Office

Last office day is Wednesday 28 March, 16:30. Open again Tuesday 3 April 2018, 8:30.


Other College Facilities

The East Common Room and the Common Room will remain available for use. The Gym, Squash Courts and Music Room will be open. Keys can only be collected when the Lodge is open. The Grand Piano in the Hall is sadly not available.


Welfare Officers Event

If you are staying in Oxford during the Easter break, please join the Welfare team who will be having a potluck event (everyone brings and shares food & drink). Please go here to read the details and formally register your interest.

Good vibrations: Of earthquakes, elephants, and extraterrestrial life

Seismology has come a long way from constraining seismicity and Earth's interior. Owing to recent developments in instrumentation on land, sea, and above, big datasets, numerical techniques, supercomputing and machine learning, we now quantify and understand information from those complex vibrations that continuously excite our planet and its surface at scales from nanometer-scale cracks to global oscillations, and thereby illuminate their underlying processes.
