I investigate when social groups are willing to engage in reconciliation processes when they share a history of mutual conflicts and, in particular, how the different groups’ discourses on history (or collective memories) influence intergroup attitudes. Currently, I focus on how intergroup contact and trust interact with different types of collective memories on intergroup attitudes.
During my PhD, I investigated ethnic minorities’ fight against discrimination by legal means. I am also extending this research by exploring under which conditions intergroup contact maintains positive intergroup attitudes without inhibiting disadvantaged group members’ fight against perceived injustices.
