The Bream Stick Show 2009

 Bill and Joan Miles hosted the 2009 Bream stick show on Saturday 15^th August.

After the two previous shows were held in torrential rain, the weather was a little kinder and it was a relief to wake to a damp morning which was followed by a dry afternoon.

 This show, held in conjunction with the Bream Horticultural Show, has become one of the largest in the Forest of Dean/ South Wales area and, as always, the hospitality extended to all competitors by Bill and Joan ensures a loyal following .This year there were some 290 entries in 22 classes and the standard was very high. As always,(unfortunately), entries in the two Novice classes were low and if any budding or more experienced stickmaker fancies their chance in next year’s show , a phone call to Bill on 01594-562549 will ensure they receive a schedule and a warm welcome.

Attached is a photo of both this year’s champion and reserve champion sticks. The centre gentleman is Bill and he is flanked by the two judges, Mr Bob Link(left) and Mr Dai Jenkins (right). Many thanks go to these two gentlemen for their expertise and also for their stamina in the face of the amount of sticks to be judged!
